| Description: | David shares his memories of when cats were parachuted into Bario in the 1950s. This followed the use of DDT spray by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a means of killing mosquitoes and controlling malaria in Sarawak in the 1950s. However, a side effect of the spray was that lots of animals died, including cats. This led to an increase in rats so to solve the problem cats were parachuted into Bario from Kuching. They shared the cats out, one per family, and after a while the rats were gone. However, not long after that the cats went too because all the rats were gone and there wasn't any cat food for them. The following equipment was used: Zoom H4N, Lavalier Mic, wind gag, Canon EOS 60D, Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM Lens. The recording is in mono and wav format. | |
