The jackal convinces the pheasant to help play a trick on the humans to steal their khir (sweet rice). The pheasant pretends to be dead, and while the humans are distracted the jackal steals the food. This story features in the picture book compilation. Transcription notes in book 2014-2 pp. 11-12. Transcription done with Sangbu Tamang, coughs and fills not marked. Where Nepali is used, Sangbu's preference is given in Syuba immediately afterwards in angle brackets, often usually only at the first instance.
