Description:Translation (Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai & Keita Kurabe) I am telling the story called "The Crocodile Who Wanted to Eat the Monkey's Heart." Once upon a time, there was a monkey in a forest. The monkey walked around on top of fruit trees and ate the fruits and lived happily. While living like this, he became friends with a crocodile in a nearby stream, and the monkey shared a fruit with the crocodile. The crocodile didn't eat the fruit himself, but carried them to his wife, and treated her to it. Then the female crocodile asked, "This fruit is very delicious." "Where did you get it?" The male crocodile answered, "My friend, the monkey, picked it for me." Then the female crocodile was not satisfied with just the fruit, but wanted to eat the monkey's heart as well, so she said to her husband, "The next time you meet your friend the monkey," "bring him here," "because I want to be friends with him too." The male crocodile did as his wife told him, and when he met his friend the monkey again, he said, "Hey, monkey, my wife wants to see you," and carried the monkey on his back to bring him to his wife. At that time, the monkey realized that the female crocodile wanted to eat his heart. So the monkey thought quickly and said, "My friend crocodile, I left my heart up in the tree." "Please carry me to the bank so that I can bring it." The crocodile believed what the monkey said, and he carried him back to the bank. Then the monkey jumped onto the land, climbed up the tree, and said to the crocodile, "My friend crocodile, you are so foolish." "You didn't even know you were tricked." "If I had left my heart up in the tree," "how could I be alive now?" He laughed and went away to a place without crocodiles.
