Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) When we talk about missionaries, we can learn about the history of Kachin Baptist Convention missionaries. Machyang Baw was a place where Shan people from Nong Hkai village used to herd their elephants. Then it happened in 1827. The riverside landing place under the bridge existed before Machyang Baw town was built. There is Hka Kang Kawa, which only grows on the other side of the river. When the Kayin pastor Sin Yu came to Putao as a missionary in 1927, he, Pastor N-gawk Yaw, Gumshen Tu, and Dare Naw prayed at the riverside landing place under the bridge and founded this village. I haven't heard of any villages being founded before that. Pastor Sin Yu prayed, and they started establishing a new village on the first day of the new year. There was a banyan tree at the entrance of the village, but there isn't one now. They cleared the grass, bushes, and plants and established the village. There are many religious denominations here as of 2019. But the person who founded Machyang Baw village was Pastor Sin Yu of the Kachin Baptist Convention. I have heard that the gentlemen such as Gumshen Tu and Htamawng Naw prayed and founded it. There are many small villages to the east of the Mali Hka River and the Nshang Hka River. But because the Burmese army abducts new soldiers from those villages, the villagers flee to Machyang Baw and live here. All the small villages from the east have disappeared. Today, when we talk about the history of how Machyang Baw was built, we have to refer to KBC history. During the British colonial period in the 1930s, they designated Machyang Baw village as a town. During the socialist era, the Burmese military government made Machyang Baw a town. Now, several departments have been assigned to govern Machyang Baw. I have learned that religious denominations such as AG later did their missionary work. The person who founded Machyang Baw was Pastor Sin Yu. The KBC has built a memorial room there to remember and honor him. Transcription (La Ring) Um Machyangbaw kaw e sasana sa ai labau nga yang law malawng e KBC a labau hpe e mu lu ai hku re.
