| Description: | Translation (Rita Seng Mai) In 1952, Nawng Hkai village was not as populated as today. During the British colonial period, there were just five or six Shan families and two guard houses. Gradually, the Jinghpaw people moved there, and more Shan people also moved in. Nawng Hkai village has existed since we started migrating here. Some people say that "Nawng Hkai" means buffalo in Shan. In our Jinghpaw history, we named the village Nawng Hkai based on the words we used during our migration. This is what I have heard from our elders.
