| Description: | Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there were two brothers: Kaju Jet and Kaju Mana. The older brother was naive, while the younger brother was clever. Because the older brother owned many cows and buffaloes, the younger brother wanted to take them all. He said to his older brother, "Brother, all the white buffaloes are mine." That night, he secretly covered all the buffaloes with white powder. However, it rained that night, and the rain washed away all the white powder. He couldn't successfully take his brother's buffaloes. After the rain washed away the white powder he had covered the buffaloes with, they returned to their original black color, so he couldn't take those buffaloes. When they worked in the fields, the elder brother's field was very productive, while the younger brother's field was in bad condition. Then he wanted to take his elder brother's field. He said to him, "My elder brother, let's swap our fields. My field is really productive, and yours is not." They climbed the tree, and he said to his older brother, "Look at your field. It's not doing well." From there, the field looked bare. Then they went to the younger brother's field. The younger brother's field looked green and beautiful when they viewed it from the edge of the field. In this way, he successfully took his elder brother's field. Later, he challenged his elder brother to compete to see who was stronger. He made a coffin and told his elder brother to lie down in it. And he closed it tightly. Then he said, "My elder brother, try to open it with all your strength!" The elder brother opened the coffin lid with all his strength. He said to his younger brother, "Now, you lie in it." And he closed the coffin very tightly. No matter how hard the younger brother tried to open it, he couldn't. The elder brother hung the coffin with the younger brother inside on a branch above the waterfall. The younger brother was looking for someone who could release him. Then he asked the crow, but it couldn't open the coffin either. Then he asked a mouse to help him. The mouse cut the rope holding the coffin. The coffin, with the younger brother inside, fell straight into a hundred-foot-high waterfall. Our elders said that it turned into gold. A man found the gold coffin and took it. The younger brother became the guardian spirit of the waterfall. (I think there is no guardian spirit today.) Our elders and seniors told us this story about Kaju Jet and Kaju Mana. The two brothers competed, and in the end, the elder brother won against the younger brother. There is no gold tree log now. This is the end of the story.
