Description:		Translation (Rita Seng Mai) A long time ago, there was a village named Hkau Mung Lungdawn. There was a riverside bathing place where people usually bathed and fetched water. Ningngai ma Ja Hpa placed her baby on the rock and washed her hair there. Unfortunately, the dragon reached the baby and ate him. When Ja Hpa learned about it, she cried and called upon the thunder deity, "Thunder deity, the dragon from Hkau Mung Lungdawn has eaten my child! Please strike it with lightning! If you do, I will offer you a three-year-old buffalo." The deity struck the dragon with lightning and left it on the riverbank. However, she couldn't find a three-year-old male buffalo as she had promised to offer the deity. She found only a female one. Ndau nat priest performed the sacrifice to the thunder deity, treating the buffalo as a male even though it was female. The thunder deity received the buffalo. He also needed to offer some to the sky deity. Then he escorted the nat priest to perform the sacrifice. He asked, "Where do I go?" The deity said, "Just close your eyes." As soon as he closed his eyes, he was taken somewhere. When he opened his eyes, he was in a pleasant place with tall grass. Then he performed the sacrifice there. After he had done it, the deity gave him some rice and alcohol in a bamboo vessel. And he said to him, "Now, you go back. Close your eyes." After he closed his eyes and opened them again, he was already home. When he arrived home, his rice and bamboo vessel turned into gold. Our elders usually tell this story. There are some thunder deities that help with unfair and unjust situations. People say that there are no more thunder deities. But in the past, thunder deities helped good people who were being bullied. Our ancestors relied on the thunder deities and asked them for help in the past.
