| Description: | Translation (Rita Seng Mai) There is a Jinghpaw story about law and justice. Once upon a time, there was a family with many sons in a village. The villagers wanted to help them because they were a group of brothers and were rich. There was an orphan boy who lost both of his parents in that village. He lived with his grandmother. In the past, the Jinghpaw people planted a kind of banyan tree called Gitgu when they celebrated the Manau festival or when they built a village. Different species of birds flying in the sky and animals from the ground came to that tree to eat its fruit. Then they set the snares there. The group of brothers set the snares around the tree. The orphan boy saw animals coming to the tree and said to his grandmother, "I want to set traps there." She said to him, "My grandson, don't do it. If anything happens to us, we have no one to help us. We can work day by day to survive. Don't catch any animals there." He insisted, "Grandma, I will go there." She couldn't stop him, so she said, "Fine. But don't set traps near where someone else is setting them." Then the boy went there and looked for a place where he could set his snare, but he couldn't find a single place because the brothers were setting snares everywhere. Then he did his best to find a spot to set his trap. (Let's cut to the point. Can we? Let's just not use it.)
