Description:Translation (Rita Seng Mai) The short story I am going to tell you now is about Bau Dum Mountain in Mayan town. In the past, there were the Wa Wang clan and the Nlam clan. The people from the Wa Wang clan were the chief lineage. The people from the Nlam clan were poor. A gorgeous girl in the Wa Wang clan and a poor boy who belonged to the Nlam clan fell in love. The Wa Wang clan people said to their daughter, "You must not marry a poor boy! You are nobler, and the daughter of the chief! You must not marry that poor boy from the Nlam clan!" But they never broke up, no matter how hard the girl's father and brothers tried to separate them. However, the chief didn't want to lose his pride and dignity. So, he ordered his people to dig a big hole. He killed both his daughter and the boy and put their bodies in it. Also, he threw three gongs there. On the night of the full moon, we could hear gongs playing from Bau Dum Mountain. From that day, we named the place Bau Dum Mountain (Bau Dum means playing gongs).
