Description: | Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, in a village, there was a man who could cast spells on people. Everyone was scared of him. He was an adult, but he couldn't get married because everyone was afraid of him. People from other villages also knew about him. There was a gorgeous lady from the other village. When he asked for her hand in marriage, she agreed to marry him. So he was so surprised. He was also worried that she might change her mind later, so he quickly arranged the wedding. The reason the girl agreed to marry him was that she was afraid he would cast a spell on her if she refused. Soon after they got married, they planned to visit the wife's family, Mayu. They had to cross the water on their way. They had to cross it by raft. When they arrived there, the wife said to her husband, "You get on first. I will push it, so it can float along." The husband got on the raft first. When he sat on it, she untied the mooring line and pushed it hard. He told her to get on it, but she didn't. She just pushed it into the water. The raft was floating along the water. He was floating along the river for many days. He was starving and thirsty to death. He had been floating on the raft along the river for many months. The raft reached the sea. At that moment, he heard a sound. However, he couldn't ask for help because he couldn't make a sound. He lacked energy and lay down unconsciously. Meanwhile, he was confused because he was present underwater with the king of the sea, but he could hear what people were saying. He stayed there for two or three years. He recalled his memories of his life and his wife on land. He thought, "I should not live here forever. My wife did it to me! I will kill her!" The king said to him, "What are you thinking about? Do you want to go back home? If you do, you can. I will give you lots of gold and jewelry." He said, "I don't want to take those things. I just want to kill my wife who pushed me into the water." The king of the sea said, "You should not revenge. Your wife would regret it after she did it to you. Thinking about killing her for revenge is not the right thing to do. Go back and live happily with her." The king gave him the jewelry and gold and sent him to the place where his wife had pushed him and the raft into the water. Then he came out of the water and pulled himself onto the land. While he was on the land, he thought, "Shall I just go back home? Shall I find her and kill her?" Before he went back to the land, the king of water said, "You should not kill your wife. She might regret her action." He remembered what the king said, but he thought not to go back home. Then he was wandering near the river, he saw a woman with long hair standing near the river and crying. He couldn't see her face because she was crying with her head bent down. He started a talk, "I thought I am the only one who is in sorrow. Why are you crying there?" The woman turned her head toward him and saw that he was her husband. She was so scared to see him and jumped right into the water. Then he quickly saved her and looked at her closely. He found out that she was his wife. His wife apologized to him for everything she had done. She said, "I didn't want to marry you, but you know how to cast a spell, so I was afraid of you. I had no choice but to marry you.
