| Description: | Mr. Akhiyelimi talks about eating and harvesting atheeh (tree fern). He explains that atheeh was the main food and the only source of survival for the Lisu people. In some villages, atheeh is easy to find, but in others, it takes a whole day to harvest it. When people are at home, they share a small amount of rice mixed with jungle leaves. When cooked, it looks similar to tiny white pieces of rice. Although siwae (sago palm tree) is tastier and can also be harvested, it’s not healthy to eat all the time. Unlike atheeh, eating siwae makes people feel tired and weak, making it hard to climb mountains. That’s why atheeh is preferred. (Original file name: Lisu_Akhi_Yelimi1_Atheeh). Language as given: | |
