(timing within the session, timing within the cassette in parentheses) Phulim demonstrating the making of yam³bu¹theng¹. It can also be called yamdum²theng¹. The word theng¹ means a beater. Two styles of playing, 1’02” (32’00”) one used at li jwe (buffalo sacrifice) . This consists of three beats. 1’52” (32’50”) demonstrating the fast beating that is used when enemies approaches, re¹ pheng² yam³dum¹ ‘enemy make.known gong beat’. He points that the beating at the time of li jwe would be done by women; 3’34” (34’32”) Making of the yamdungtheng. A piece of bamboo was taken and shaved, and a plastic bag was slowly burned and wrapped around and made solid. 12’48” (43’46”) Demonstrating the playing styles of the gong at li jwe. The three beats are one (moethe), two (moeni) and three (moerum ajoe¹) ‘stop’. When two people play, when the first one reaches moerum ajoe, the second one starts with moethe. Striking the gong is called adung³. 18’20” (49’18”) Parts of the gong: the big one is called yamdung³ and the smaller one yamran¹ . The nipple of the gong is called apu²cho¹. yam³ than¹ - ‘yam face’ the front of the gong and yam³vuk¹ ‘stomach of the yam’.
