Description: | This recording shows how the documentation team arrives in Ngolo with some additional guests: workers from a Finnish power plant company who have been invited that day and who kindly provided night lights for the ceremonial "bapeya" dance that happened the same night. As Nadine and the Finnish guests arrive in the village, they greet the people they meet. The Bagyeli then take them on a walk through the rain forest. Nadine and Mama are talking in Gyeli, Nadine trying to say "I'm happy to see you" which Mama understands, correcting her until the phrase is grammatically correct. Ntemba is checking a rat hole with a machete and a spear, which the dogs have discovered, but he does not make a catch, so the party continues their walk. Later, Mama and Ntemba point out a termite mound and Mama explains to Nadine that it's called "nkfù" in Gyeli. Ntemba then checks a trap for a duiker, explaining that they saw the traces of a duiker passing by the trap. He is tending the trap again. Mama calls Nadine who says that she is coming. Mama climbs up in a tree, showing Nadine and the otehrs a termite nest in the tree. At the end of the walk, everybody arrives in the village again and the white people are checking themselves for insect bites. | |
