Description:		Marrku is the traditional, but no longer spoken, language of Croker Island. The only remaining record of Marrku consists of a few hours of spoken texts from the mid 1960's and 1990's. In this session the linguist Nick Evans plays Marrku texts recorded in 1966 by the linguist Bernhard Schebeck to the informant Joy Williams, who is one of the last two 'hearers' of the Marrku language. The person talking on the tape is Hazel Mamiyarr, her deceased mother. (Part 1 of 2)
