Title:The story of the comet
0185-The story of the comet
Documentation of Zenzontepec Chatino language and culture
Contributor:TCR
Coverage:Mexico
Date:2010-07-31
Description:TCR relates the story of the comet. It is supposedly an old Chatino tale of how a comet ran out of strength and landed near a village. The people of the village try to burn it, and the fire replenishes its strength. The comet returns at a later date and gives the people money in appreciation. Also, there is a belief that those who go bald have comets as tonos and that they may end up wealthy. There is a brief Spanish summary beginning at 5:54 after the Chatino relation.Audio duration [00:09:07]
