Description: | This is a joke/funny story, based on the experience of the speaker when she was still a school student. It was about a word in Indonesian, "gaplek" (dried cassava). All the students didn't know the meaning of the work. However, one student confidently raised his hand and told the teacher that he knew its meaning. He said that the meaning was "smelly decomposed fish". This funny story by Edit Anggo Gelang was recorded in the afternoon when there was a family gathering, with neighbours joining in. Text ini adalah Ceritera Lucu tentang seorang siswa yang salah mengartikan Gaplek, ketika Bapak guru bertanya tentang hal tersebut, Gaplek menurut jawabannya adalah Ikan tembang yang hancur, dan karena jawabannya itu membuat teman-teman dalam kelasnya tertawa terbahak-bahak.
The project aims to set up a comprehensive archive of the Rongga language and culture as a resource tool containing the core data and references on which further studies, analyses, and practical language-community programs may be based. A variety of data as part of the archive has been collected. It includes audio and visual recordings (digitised), (ethnographic) notes based on interviews and observations, as well as anthropological or linguistic descriptions. At the conclusion of the project, a grammar and a basic dictionary will be already completed.
The main language is Rongga, but several sentences are in Indonesian.
Frans Seda is one of young educated Rongga speakers, who is fluent in Rongga, and other neighbouring languages, and also speaks Indonesian (of course), as well as English.
