En 2011, comenzó el proyecto de colaboración Waorani, que involucró al investigador Casey High, de Goldsmiths University of London, al investigador norteamericano Connie Dickinson, y los jóvenes Waorani, Ramón Uboye Gaba, Inés Nemo Nenquimo, Meri Nenquihui y Oswando Opi Nenquimo como documentalistas nativos. El objetivo principal del proyecto es registrar prácticas culturales que cubren una amplia gama de temas y contextos, desde rituales e historias tradicionales hasta conversaciones de la vida cotidiana. El proyecto también tiene como objetivo producir una base de datos que incluya un léxico. El proyecto recibió fondos del Hans Rausing Endangered Language Fund, SOAS, Londres, durante tres años. | ||
In 2011, the collaborative project Waorani started, involving the researcher Casey High, from Goldsmiths University of London, the north American researcher Connie Dickinson, and the young Waorani, Ramón Uboye Gaba, Inés Nemo Nenquimo, Meri Nenquihui y Oswando Opi Nenquimo as native documentalists. The main objective of the project is to register cultural practices that cover a broad range of topics and contexts, from rituals and traditional stories to daily life conversations. The project also aims at producing a database including a lexicon. The project received funding from the Hans Rausing Endangered Language Fund, SOAS, London, for three years. | ||
Wao Terero is an unclassified language spoken by some 2,800 Waorani who live in the western Amazon area in the provinces of Pastaza, Napo and Orellana in Ecuador.
