| Description: | This little narrative tells how Galina Kandakova and her husband passed a she-bear with cubs while going down the Amgun’ in their boat. To Galina Kandakova’s amazement, the she-bear only ensured that one of her cubs was safe and abandoned the other one - which nevertheless ran after its mother by itself and managed to catch up with her. The narrative was recorded in August 2006 by Elena Kalinina and Elena Sumbatova, and a first transcription was done by Nina Sumbatova, with the Russian translation given by Galina Kandakova. The recording was time-aligned in ELAN and retranscribed by Daria Bikina in 2017, who glossed the text. Natalia Aralova checked and corrected the transcription and glosses with Galina Kandakova and Antonina Kazarova. | This project focuses on the documentation of Negidal, a highly moribund Northern Tungusic language spoken by at most a handful of individuals on the Amgun’ and Lower Amur rivers in the Russian Federation. The language comprises two dialects, Upper and Lower Negidal, of which the latter might already be extinct. The project will result primarily in an extensive corpus of interlinearized texts from the Upper dialect together with accompanying audio recordings. | ||
