| Description: | In this session a variety of lexemes, phrases and example sentence were recorded from Ambaye Tsedeke. First, unknown vocabulary from the interview in session QM2012-01-05 was recorded. Next some tonal minimal pairs were recorded in isolation. Three audio files contain unknown vocabulary from the interview in session BI2012-01-21_002. The session also served to record the Swadesh 200-wordlist, which was published with the associated sound files in 2014 (cf. Treis, Yvonne & Alexander Werth 2014. Notes from the Field: Baskeet phonological sketch and digital wordlist. Language Documentation & Conservation 8: 810-832.). The last recording of the session is another sound file that serves to analyse tone on compounds. | |
| Yvonne Treis is a linguist and works on Ethiopian languages at CNRS in France. | ||
| Ambaye was trained as a teacher and worked at different schools in the Basketo Special Woreda. At the time of the Baskeet documentation project he was one of the very free Baskeet native speakers who were fluent in English. In his freetime he worked as an assistant in the documentation project, carried out interviews, assisted in the transcription and translation and was a consultant in grammar and lexicon elicitation sessions. | ||
