Description: | Om Bodi Sambow is filmed as he performs the various stages of copra production. He first climbs a coconut tree to chop down some green coconuts. He then collects them in a ox-drawn cart. The coconuts are unloaded and deshusked next to a small hut where they are then smoked. The new batch of coconuts and some older coconuts are dehusked and split into halves before being laid out on a rack above the smoking pit. A fire is lit and the coconut halves are smoked for approximately four hours. After this they are removed and an instrument is used to scoop out the smoked coconut flesh. This is then chopped up and put into sacks to be sold. The video footage was recorded using a Canon Legria HF R606 (wide shots) and a Canon Legria HF R706 (close-up shots). The raw footage was edited using Premier Pro CC software before being exported in H.264 format and re-encoded using the Handbrake program. The audio narration recorded on a Zoom H1 in .wav format using a Rode Lavalier lapel microphone. This bundle contains narration in both the Tonsawang and Tombulu languages. The transcription and translation used for this narration is located in bundle TNW_30_JP_16022017.
Video recorded using both a Canon Legria HF R606 (wide shot) and a Canon Legria HF R706 (close up shots). MTS format has been converted to MP4 using Handbrake. There is various audio in this recording from the internal microphones of the HF R606 and HF R706. This came from the tools used, the talking between Om Budi and others present during the prosess. It is intended that this recording will be edited into a 10-20 minute video which can be used as stimulus for elicitation of linguistic data.
