| Description: | The crow who lost his wife-2 // Как ворон потерял жену-2 This fairy tale was recorded by Elena Kalinina and Ol'ga Birjuk from Anna Porfir’evna Nadeina in August 2007. In 2018, Brigitte Pakendorf transcribed it in ELAN, translated it with A. V. Kazarova and glossed it. Resulting questions were checked with A. V. Kazarova and G. I. Kandakova. This is a fairy tale about a crow who took a young woman as a wife. She was bored by life with the crow and left it. She went downriver in a birch bark box and was found by a man who then married her. When it realized that the woman was gone, the crow started to desperately search for her. Searching for her it was crying and singing a crow song. This song contains made-up words in “crow language” which only occasionally resemble certain concepts, such as ‘grass’ or ‘dried fish’. It was therefore impossible to translate it. See also the session “The crow who lost his wife // Как ворон потерял свою жену” where D. I. Nadeina tells her version of this tale, slightly differently. // Эта сказка была записана Еленой Калининой и Ольгой Бирюк от Анны Порфирьевны Надеиной в августе 2007 года. Это сказка о том, как ворон взял в жены девушку. Ей наскучила жизнь с вороном, и она от него убежала. Она залезла в берестяной короб и поплыла вниз по реке. Ее нашел хороший человек, который на ней женился. Ворон же, обнаружив пропажу, стал изо всех сил искать свою жену. Когда он ее искал, он плакал и пел песню. Эта песня содержит много несуществующих слов на «вороньем языке», которые только в редких случаях похожи на настоящие слова (как «трава» или «сушеная рыба»). Поэтому перевести ее не представляется возможным. Отвечая на вопросы по этому тексту, Галина Ивановна Кандакова отметила, что речь в сказке идет о самце вороны, но чтобы было понятно, что это ворона мужского пола, она в русском переводе называет его вороном. | This project focuses on the documentation of Negidal, a highly moribund Northern Tungusic language spoken by at most a handful of individuals on the Amgun’ and Lower Amur rivers in the Russian Federation. The language comprises two dialects, Upper and Lower Negidal, of which the latter might already be extinct. The project will result primarily in an extensive corpus of interlinearized texts from the Upper dialect together with accompanying audio recordings. | ||
| Anna P. Nadeina was born in October 1916. Her father was a Negidal, her mother, who died when she was six, a Nanai. She has only minimal education ("likbez", literacy school), and worked in the village bakery, as a cleaner in the school, and in the kindergarten laundry.She is the mother of Daria and Tamara Nadeina, Galina Kandakova, and Ljubov' Oxlopkova. | ||
