		In this hour long video that is transcribed and translated into Spanish and English, Okata Nihua demonstrates how to collect and prepare ‘öme’ (curare).
		En el 2011, comienza el proyecto colaborativo Waorani entre: el investigador Casey High, de la Universidad Goldsmiths de Londres; la investigadora norteamericana Connie Dickinson; y los jóvenes Waorani Ramón Gaba, Jorge Gaba y Oswando Nenquimo, como documentalistas nativos. La meta del proyecto es registrar prácticas culturales que cubran una amplia gama de tópicos y contextos -desde historias tradicionales y rituales, hasta conversaciones cotidianas de la vida diaria-. Otra meta del proyecto es producir una base de datos con un léxico de al menos 6000 palabras y un bosquejo gramatical de la lengua. El proyecto tiene el financiamiento de Hans Rausing Endangered Language Fund, SOAS, London por tres años.
		In 2011, the collaborative project Waorani started, involving the researcher Casey High, from Goldsmiths University of London, the north American researcher Connie Dickinson, and the young Waorani Ramón Gaba, Jorge Gaba and Oswando Nenquimo as native documentalists. The main objective of the project is to register cultural practices that cover a broad range of topics and contexts, from rituals and traditional stories to daily life conversations. The project also aims at producing a database including a lexicon of at least 6000 words as well as a grammatical outline of the language. The project will receive funding from the Hans Rausing Endangered Language Fund, SOAS, London, for three years.
		En este video Okata Nihua, Oswando Nenquimo, Ramón Uboye Gaba y los nietos jovenes de Okata, Wanogi y Kireya, van a la selva donde Okata recoge y sigue los primeros pasos en la preparación del curare, el veneno que se pone en las flechas de las cerbatanas. Él da instrucciones detalladas sobre el método adecuado para la producción de curare. Durante la preparación del curare, Okata también cuenta varias historias de caza.
		In this hour long video, Okata Nihua, Oswando Nenquimo, Ramón Uboye Gaba and two of Okata’s young grandchildren, Wanogi and Kireya, go to the jungle where Okata collects and carries out the first steps in the preparation of curare, the poison that is used to tip the arrows of the blowguns. He gives detailed instructions on the proper method for producing curare. During the preparation, Okata also tells several hunting stories.
		Wao Terero is an unclassified language spoken by some 3,000 Waorani who live in the western Amazon in the Ecuadorian provinces of Napo, Orellana and Pastaza
		The actors in this video are members of the extended family of Okata Nihua of the community Yawepare. All members speak Wao Terero as their first and dominant language. Kireya and Wanogi are Okata's grandchildren who accompanied the group to cut down and process the curare vine. Oswando and Uboye are native Wao documentars.

		Wanogi Nihua was born in Shell, but currently lives in Yawepare. He is the son of Ana Gaba and Moipa Nihua and the brother of Kireya and Wita Nihua. He is an elementary student at the Fiscal Omateña school. Waorani is his native language but he also speaks Spanish.
		Okata Nihua nació en Dayuma y está casado con Kemea Nenquimo. Él es un experto en la caza, la pesca, la construcción de viviendas, las plantas medicinales y el conocimiento tradicional. Actualmente vive en Yawepare. Wao Terero es su lenguaje materno y dominante.
		Okata Nihua was born in Dayuma and is married to Kemea Nenquimo. He is an expert in hunting, fishing, house construction, medicinal plants and traditional knowledge. He currently lives in Yawepare. Wao Terero is his maternal and dominant language.
		Uboye Gaba nació en la comunidad Wao Toñampari. Sus padres son Amo Gaba y Ñai Caiga. Es soltero sin compromiso, tiene su bachillerato en contabilidad. Él es fotógrafo y sabe grabar videos, hacer documentales y otros, además experto en transcripción y traducción y sabe manejar varios programas lingüísticos necesarios para un proyecto de documentación. Actualmente está trabajando en un proyecto investigando los ideófonos y gestos en Wao terero. Wao terero es su idioma materno pero también habla español y es alfabetizado en ambos idiomas.
		Uboye Gaba was born in the Wao community of Toñampari. His parents are Amo Gaba and Ñai Caiga. He is single and has a high school degree with a specialization in accounting. He is a photagrapher and is also knowledgeable in video recording, documentation and is an expert in transcription and translation as well as in the various linguistic programs necessary for documentation. He is currently working on a project concerning ideophones and gesture in Wao Terero. Wao Terero is his maternal language but he also speaks Spanish and is literate in both languages.
		Oswando Nequimo nació en la comunidad Wao Toñampare. Sus padres son Tiri Nenquimo y Manuela Pauchi. Él es casado con Ima Bogenei y tiene un hijo. Tiene bachillerato con una especialidad en contabilidad. Es un experto en transcripción y traducción y también sabe grabar video y manejar los varios programas de computadora necesarios para un proyecto de documentación. Wao terero es su idioma materno pero también habla español y es alfabetizado en ambos idiomas.
		Oswando Nequimo was born in the Wao community of Toñampare. His parents are Tiri Nenquimo and Manuela Pauchi. He is married to Ima Bogenei and has one son. He has a high school degree with a focus on accounting. He is an expert in transcription and translation and also has training in video recording and the various computer programs necessary for carrying out a documentation project. Wao Terero is his maternal language but he also speaks Spanish and is literate in both languages.
		Kireya Nihua nació en Puyo, pero actualmente vive en Yawepare. Ella es la hija de Ana Gaba y Nihua Moipa y es la hermana de Wanogi y Nihua Wita. Ella es una estudiante de primaria en la escuela Fiscal Omateña. Waorani es su lengua materna y dominante, sino que también habla español.
		Kireya Nihua was born in Puyo, but she now lives in Yawepare. She is the daughter of Ana Gaba and Moipa Nihua and is the sister of Wanogi and Wita Nihua. She is an elementary student in the Fiscal Omateña school. Waorani is her maternal language, but she also speaks Spanish.
