Description: | Ino proposes Ikkaw to talk about their ancestors Himena, Joaquin, Samson, Bagyah, Montingsili when them and their families were all living together in Dibolowan. As a community they would always share part of the catch (bahaginan) after a hunt trip. They insist in the fact that sharing defines their culture in addition with the fact that they would usually change their camp once the area was dirty, and move to cleaner place. They continue by naming the names of edible animals that could be found in the river (min 12) and how they would eat them. They mention how the ancestors could prepare medicines that were so effective that It would only take one day to heal, and thus it was possible to go back to work on the next day. Kuya ikkaw underlines that there are so many things of the past that have disappeared. Ino explains that many names of places in the area were named by the Altas, the list includes Ditieki, Diyabobo, Dimanangla, Dibbanawan, Dimani, Dimasingay, Dianed, Ditomabo, Ditailin, Dipaculao… Min 23, the location of the recording is changed in order to have better wind and light conditions. The conversation continues about the sacred places within the Alta ancestral domain, such as Magdalenas who is said to be haunted. Min 39, Ino and Ikkaw state that their culture is being erased as a result of the contact and influence of the Tagalog people. At the same time both prepare the mixture of ingredients that the chew with the betel nut. The conversation continues with the super typhoon Lando and its consequences (min 41) | |
