Description:		Suleyman explains that the elderly used to tell them that they should say, in the name of the Cross, and then enter empty rooms. The power of the Cross expells djinns. When djinns hear this, they take their children and leave that place. He explains that the children of the djinns often spend time at the door arches. Lahdo also tells us that the appearance of djinns is based on the belief of the individual.
		The Beth Qustan dialect of the Central Neo-Aramaic, Turoyo, which is the language of Tur 'Abdin, South Eastern Turkey, with an estimated 20 families remaining in the village.This project will document socio-cultural practices of the Turoyo speaking community in Tur 'Abdin, focusing on vernacular tales, particularly those that demonstrate cultural interaction between Muslims and Christians, including Muslim visitations to the shrines of Christian saints, and consultation of soothsayers by Christians.

		Suleyman was born in the village of Beth Qustan in 1963 and immegrated to Germany in 1977. He completed his Turkish primary school. Lahdo was born in the village of Beth Qustan in 1971 and immegrated to Germany in 1992. He studied Turkish Primary school to grade 5.
