| Description: | Starting from an explanation of so-called t͡ɕalisʰtosʰeki, 자릿도세기, which is a Jejuan term for naked piglets, HYJ1 tells SUK1 about Jeju's pig-keeping culture, and how on Jeju's rocky, volcanic soil, all over the island one used to have toilets made of stone called tʰoŋsʰe, 통세 or tʰoŋsʰi, 통시 which were at the same time the place that pigs were kept, these pig-keeping enclosures are quite well-known to be typically Jejuan (perhaps also representing somewhat negative attitudes towards the island in past eras when the region used to be extremely poor), although there are parts on the mainland which call their toilets tʰoŋsʰi, too. | |
