Title:SD1-239
Bibliographic Citation:Rugu W., Sophune, Pidhu (Ebbe), Danerek, H. Stefan, Danerek, H. Stefan; 2015-11-01; Genre: Medicine/huru. Bapak Rugu, kampong Wolo lala Talo ngongo (kampung Hobo?), desa Maluriwu, tells his 'huru koli', that is actually a 'huru de'u' ("huru rat")'. This recording is a little bit confusing. First he summarises it very short, so that Pidhu Sophune (Ebbe) has to ask questions, and he asks all through the recording. Rugu also mentions coughing and lower back pain, which means that the curse does not only mean that rats will attack a transgressor's clothes, in his closet or coffin or elsewhere. Does he speak about one, two or three 'huru'? The cure uses a symbolic payment of about two thousand IDR that is thrown away. He puts chewed areca nut and piper betel (sirih pinang) with coconut shell fibres on the victim's bottom spine, up and down again, and utters a short 'bulu wa'o' prayer-request. Later the victim pays 500 000. Recorded by Pidhu him outside of Rugu's home at noon time 1 Nov -15.Notes: Curse. Symptoms: clothes destroyed, lower back/hip pain, coughing. Unclear, as if he talks about different ‘huru’. Materials; unclear, areca betel + ?.; digital wav file recorded at 44,1 khz/16 bit, eaf file II jpg file II jpg files in pdf file; Kaipuleohone University of Hawai'i Digital Language Archive;http://hdl.handle.net/10125/47813.
