Title:SD1-219
Bibliographic Citation:Pui, Danerek, H. Stefan, Danerek, H. Stefan, Danerek, H. Stefan; 2015-06-20; Genre: Medicine/huru. Bapak Pui is host to an arsenal of 'huru'. On this occasion, 20 June -15 in the afternoon, I recorded nine 'huru', using the AT2020 mic, sitting in the main, front room. This file is 'huru haphi' ('huru firei'). It is also a sign/prohibition hung in fruit trees, coconut and others. The plant's leaves or branches are hung or put there by the stem. Symptom: Burnt skin. Oddly the name of the huru, 'haphi' alludes to 'habhi' (the BI. kesambi tree, whose leaves are used in the curse) pronounced almost the same. Cure: chewed areca nut, piper betel and kesambi leaves. Apply on the burnt skin. Simple. Present were also his daughter and son, and wife, outside on the bamboo plattform. Other listeners, neighbour kids, passed by as usual, peeking in by the window or the doors. No 'bulu wao'. Generally little to nothing of 'bhulu wao' in Bapak Pui's 'ngiru huru'. Photo of Pui at home serving a glass.; digital wav file recorded at 48 khz/24 bit, eaf file; Kaipuleohone University of Hawai'i Digital Language Archive;http://hdl.handle.net/10125/47793.
