Title:SD1-120
Bibliographic Citation:"Pajo", Sophune, Pidu (Ebbe), Danerek, H. Stefan, Danerek, H. Stefan; 2015-11-08; Genre: Oral history. Theme: Kidnapping-headhunting and construction sacrifice. This file also serves as appendix to the article: Danerek, Stefan. 2016. Indonesia and the Malay World (45) 131: 88-107. online version (print 2017. http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/13639811.2017.1247547). "Pajo" tells about healing in a longer recording done by Pidhu Sophune (Ebbe), who also interviewed him. This file is cut from that longer recording, because Pajo mentions in passing that he headhunted with "Ngange" in the past when he was very young. Interestingly, Pajo reveals that he received his power to heal during that time. The gift was given him by an ancestor of "Ngange's", namely Ngange kabe. The Palu'e audio collection has a fantastic tale about the legendary Ngange kabe, told by the great storyteller Bapak Aloysius Sindepima (item SD1-001). The recording was done outside of Pajo's house in a seaside kampung on Palu'e with an AT Lavalier mic, and the quality is not great, because of wind, rec level and touch, especially in the larger file this file is part of). The events, headtaking with "Ngange", must have occurred in the late 1960s until 1971 (when "Ngange" passed away).; digital wav file recorded at 48 khz/24 bit, eaf file; Kaipuleohone University of Hawai'i Digital Language Archive;http://hdl.handle.net/10125/42714.
