Title: Wawi no'o Heko (Pig and Snail). 25 Sept 2015 I made a trip with Offie, a friend from kampong Nara, to Dhure, Mbako and Teo, where his wife (newly wed) is from. We arrived in Teo in the early afternoon. We had some rice and coffee there and chatted with Teresia Lue and her husband, and another resident. Steffen from Dhure was also there. Lue is orinally from Nitung but has lived in Teo all of her adult life, so her accent is rather Teo-like. The two tales she told are "Teo tales" she said. This tale is a fable, Wawi no'o Heko (Pig and Snail). Like in most fables they are friends buyt become enbemies because one of them does not share food. There is also a monkey, and the moral is that the greedy one is killed in the end, to the rejoice of his former friend.; digital wav file recorded at 48 khz/24 bit, eaf file, photo jpeg file; Kaipuleohone University of Hawai'i Digital Language Archive;http://hdl.handle.net/10125/38997. | |
