Stefan, Ratu, Hilarius; 2015-02-02; Lengu Nande (1916-2017) tells a myth of how weaving came to earth (Lu'a). A wife and mother with one child cannot weave because there are no weaving tools in her village, neither is there anyone who can teach weaving. The woman's parents live in the sky, above "Nangge Liru", and she had married a man from the ‘bottom layer’, the Earth. One day the woman decides to return to her parents. She travels by way of magic, through an areca nut tree (betel) she gives offerings to, so that the tree stretches high up and takes her to the heavens. Later, her husband follows. Finally, the parents give them the weaving tools to bring with them to their village on Earth. From the second recording session with Lengu Nandene.
