Description: | Recording # GC23.9.2006.1-2 Name of song series Wardapi yawulyu (Puturlu yawulyu) Date recorded 23/9/2006 Singers Mary Nangala Ross, Rosie Nangala Fleming, Nelly Nangala Wayne, Coral Napangardi Gallagher, Gracie Napangardi Johnson and Liddy Napanangka Walker. Recorder Georgia Curran Place recorded Mt Theo, just away from outstation Other people present Gretel Extra information recorded Gretel had come to Yuendumu as she was making an interpretive dance film and wanted to incorporate some of the scenery from around Yuendumu. She was looking for somewhere to film herself dancing so we went for a trip to Mt Theo – all the women with us said that this would be a good place to do this. A month earlier Coral and Gracie’s sister Rosie passed away. She was an important kirda for Mt Theo and therefore singing these songs brought up a lot of sadness. They only sung four songs because of this. Recording #GC23.9.2006.1 is a story about the travels of the goanna from Mt Theo. Recording #GC23.9.2006.2 are yawulyu from the Puturlu (Mt Theo) Dreaming.
