| Description: | This recording was made at Puhong's house, when my brother Peyam and I visited on Sunday evening and invited Huming to assist in demonstrating about the preparations of items needed for the tattooing process. In this recording, we see that they first lit a fire by burning pine wood, and placed an inner pan to collect the soot. Later, they prepare a shimpun pai for tabbing, and to tie the nyiplaotao "inking needle" to the wood. When enough soot is collected, they then mixed the soot and water and started demonstrating on a piece of paper a woman's forehead tattoo. Since the tattooing culture is no longer in practice in the region, it was not possible to capture the original tattooing procedure despite that all the tools used for inking are available and easy to access. I was accompanied by my brother and aunt when making this recording. Recorded at PH's house in Haiphu Sondam at Wolam Nyukyan, Nolkak, Nagaland, Northeast India Original file names: WL24_NyipLaoDemo.
