Description:An annual pilgrimage to Tawang was most celebrated among the older generations of Dakpa people of the villages of Thragom, Bamchang, Rinzentangpang, Dukti, and Namdhi. The event was seen as a way to reconnect with relatives living on the other side of the Bhutan/India border. They usually went to witness Tawang Torgya, a three-day-long festival of mask dances. It took around three days by foot to reach Tawang when there were no roads linking Dakpa-speaking villages across the border.
