| Description: | Princeville, North Carolina was settled just after the Civil War in 1865 and is the oldest town incorporated by African Americans in the United States. It is located in the Coastal Plain region of eastern North Carolina and lies just south of the Tar River from the county seat of Tarboro in Edgecombe County. Princeville was the site of NCLLP fieldwork from about 2003 - 2005 and is the subject of an NCLLP documentary. Collection contains 38 individual interviews/records.
