Description: SLIC est un corpus d’apprentissage organisé dans une archive IMS-CP. Un corpus d’apprentissage (LEarning & TEaching Corpus, LETEC) est constitué autour de l’objet d’étude résultant d’une situation de formation / apprentissage en ligne. Le corpus primaire rassemble l’ensemble des données d’interaction, de production des acteurs engagés dans la formation, complété par les traces des actions laissées par ces acteurs dans le système. Le corpus comprend le scénario pédagogique décrit dans différents formats, le protocole de recherche, Les interactions en ligne des participants sur Moodle et Second Life (structurées en format XML), La liste des participants et la licence d’utilisation. Le fichier de métadonnées du corpus d’apprentissage SLIC (idMulce : mce_slic_letec_all) est conforme aux standars OLAC et Dublin Core. Le corpus lui-même (mce_slic_letec_all_CP.zip) est organisé comme une archive au format IMS-CP format. Les vidéos des séances effectuées dans l’environnement Second Life, l'archive de l'espace Moodle ainsi que toutes les productios des étudiants sont disponibles dans la partie SID.

Le projet SLIC (Second Life InterCulturel) est un dispositif de télécollaboration franco-américain. Cette formation a eu lieu entre septembre et décembre 2011. Elle a été conçue en collaboration entre l’Université Blaise Pascal, Clermont-Ferrand et Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Etats-Unis.

Le projet SLIC était organisé en 5 étapes thématiques liées au contenu du cours suivi par les apprenants de FLE (français langue étrangère) “Introduction to French Culture” et dispensé par Bonnie Youngs à Carnegie Mellon University. Au préalable, tous les participants ont suivi une séance d’introduction au monde synthétique Second Life pour se familiariser aux principales fonctionnalités et outils disponibles.Les étudiants étaient répartis en 7 groupes de 4 à 6 étudiants dont 2 de l’Université Blaise Pascal. La plateforme Moodle était utilisée comme espace de ressources et d’échanges asynchrones entre les étudiants. Chaque groupe se retrouvait dans Second Life pour réaliser les tâches collaboratives en lien avec la thématique de chaque étape. Un étudiant de Master de l’Unversité Blaise Pascal avait le rôle d’”animateur” et était responsable du bon déroulement de l’étape qu’il gérait. Chaque étudiant avait un travail individuel à fournir en amont du travail collaboratif dans Second Life.

Vingt-et-un étudiants de sexe féminin et quatorze de sexe masculin ont pris part au projet SLIC. Ils avaient entre 18 ans et 38 ans. Leur niveau académique variait entre le niveau 1 ère année de licence et 2ème année de Master. Le français était la langue maternelle de 11 des 35 étudiants et l’anglais, la langue maternelle de 18 des 35 étudiants. Les langues maternelles des autres étudiants sont : le mandarin, le coréen, l’arabe et le polonais. Le français était la langue de travail pour ce projet du fait des objectifs des étudiants.

The SLIC project (Second Life InterCulturel) is a telecollaborative project. The course took place between September and December 2011. It was designed as a collaborative project between Université Blaise Pascal, Clermont-Ferrand, France and Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, United States.

SLIC involved twenty-one female and fourteen male students, aged between 18 and 38. Students ranged from first year undergraduates to second year Masters’ students. French was the mother tongue of eleven of the thirty-five students. English was the mother tongue of eighteen of the thirty-five students. The mother tongues of the remaining six were: Mandarin, Korean, Polish and Arabic. French was the language used because of the students’objectives

SLIC Corpus is a LETEC corpus organized as an IMS-CP archive. We define a Learning & Teaching Corpus as a structured entity containing all the elements resulting from a content and language integrated learning situation, whose context is described by an educational scenario and a research protocol. The core data collection includes all the interaction data, the productions of the course participants, and the tracks, resulting from the participants’ actions in the learning environment and stored according to the research protocol. The corpus includes the pedagogical scenario, described in several formats, the research protocol, participants’ online interactions, the list of participants and licences of use. The metadata file of the learning of the teaching and learning corpus SLIC (idMulce : mce_slic_letec_all) is in line with the OLAC and Dublin Core standards. The corpus itself (mce_slic_letec_all_CP.zip) is organized as an archive in an IMS-CP format. The videos of the sessions completed in the Second Life environment and the archive of the Moodle course are made available in the SID as well as all the students' productions..

The SLIC project was divided into 5 thematical steps linked to the content of the course in which the learners of French were enrolled : “Introduction to French Culture”, taught by Bonnie Youngs at Carnegie Mellon University. Beforehand, all students participated in an introductory session to the synthetic world of Second Life in order to become familiar with the main functionalities and tools available. The students were divided into 7 workgroups of 4 to 6 students (of which 2 were from Université Blaise Pascal). The Moodle platform was used for resources and asynschronous interactions between students. Each group met up in Second Life in order to complete collaborative tasks linked to the theme of the step. One Master’s student from UBP was “discussion leader”, hence responsible for leading the step. Each student had some individual work to do before the collaborative work in Second Life.
